Sunway Young Thinkers Trophy: Annual Essay Competition 2025

We invite esteemed educational institutions offering Grade 11 and 12 to participate in the “Sunway Young Thinkers Trophy: An Annual Essay Competition” commencing this year 2025.

The inaugural topic – “AI: 20 Years from Now” – seeks to spark the imagination, knowledge, expression, and vision of young learners. The competition aims to nurture critical thinking, creativity, and the ability to envision the future, empowering students to articulate their insights on how Artificial Intelligence might transform society, learning and daily life in the coming two decades.

The schools are required to nominate their brightest thinkers to compete for the Sunway Young Thinkers Rolling Trophy, along with attractive cash prizes and recognition through national newspapers and Sunway College’s official social media platforms.

Event Details

Date: 22 November 2025

Time: 11 AM to 1 PM

Venue: Sunway College, Maitidevi, Kathmandu

Duration of Essay Writing: 1 hour

Registration Fee: Rs. 200 per participant (to be paid in cash on event day)

Awards

Prizes will be awarded to the First, Second and Third position holders:

First Prize: Rs. 10,000 cash + Rolling Trophy (held by winning school for 1 year)

Second Prize: Rs. 5,000 cash

Third Prize: Rs. 3,000 cash

The essays will be evaluated by a panel of three judges – one from Sunway College and two from the participating schools.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony will be held on 29th December 2025 at 11:00 AM at Sunway College. The judges will announce the winners in the presence of the participants, their parents/guardians, and school representatives. A High Tea will be served for all attendees.

The names of the winners and their respective schools will also be published in national newspapers and featured on the official social media pages of Sunway College to celebrate their achievements.

Rules and Participation Guidelines

  1. Each school may nominate a maximum of five participants.
  2. Participants must be students of Grade XI or XII.
  3. The essay topic is “AI: 20 Years from Now.”
  4. Essays must be written in English on the spot.
  5. Word limit: 600–700 words.
  6. Registration: Begins at 11:00 AM on 22nd November 2025.
  7. Competition Time: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.
  8. Participants should carry their school ID cards and necessary stationery (writing sheets will be provided).
  9. Essays will be judged on originality, imagination, content relevance, structure, expression, and clarity of thought.
  10. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
  11. Schools are requested to confirm participation by 18th November 2025 via email or phone.
