About the project
Students frequently struggle with maintaining consistent study habits, succumbing to mobile distractions, and lacking motivation when studying in isolation. Traditional study methods lack immediate, diagnostic feedback on practice tests, and access to private tutoring remains financially prohibitive for many. To address these issues, we designed and built GYAN (meaning “knowledge” in Sanskrit) which is an AI-powered, social study platform.
GYAN combines strict focus enforcement with personalized AI tools. It introduces a configurable Pomodoro timer paired with an Android-native App-Lock Overlay that blocks distracting applications during active sessions, alongside bundled offline white-noise audio. On the collaborative side, GYAN allows students to create or join study groups via email invitations, featuring a real-time synchronized leaderboard to foster healthy peer accountability.
